Students delighted on Day 1 of board exams

Students came out smiling after taking their first paper of the board exams here today. Students of Classes XII (CBSE) and VIII (Punjab School Education Board) appeared for the examination today. While the non-medical and medical students of Class XII found their chemistry paper easy, students of Class VIII were delighted at the easy exam pattern.

3 of family killed in accident

Vigilance nabs ASI

A team of the local Vigilance Bureau yesterday nabbed a Punjab police ASI, posted in the Khanna city police, while he was allegedly taking Rs 2,000 as bribe from an undertrial to facilitate him in a case of narcotics smugglings. ASI Paramjit Singh was arrested and booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Three booked for exploiting girl

The Basti Jodhewal police has booked a resident of Meharbaan for allegedly exploiting a girl for several months on the pretext of marrying her. The police said Mohinder Singh of Meharbaan village had made the girl’s video in compromising position so that she might not object to his marrying another girl.
