Sarpanch, five others booked for assault
Jagraon, February 24
Joginder Singh, sarpanch, Gurmit Singh, Baljit Singh and their father Harnek Singh, Mohindra, and Jyoti, all of Mehma Singh Wala village, allegedly attacked and assaulted Kiranjit Kaur and Raju of the same village with iron rods and sticks. The six allegedly entered into their house and the Dehlon police has registered a case under Sections 307, 452, 323, 148, 149 and 120-B of the IPC. The injured have been admitted in Arora Neuro Centre, Ludhiana. Some dispute over plot is said to be the reason behind the incident.

Punjab win 26 medals
Ludhiana, February 24
Punjab won 26 medals, including 14 gold, four silver and eight bronze in the Xth Senior and Vth Junior National Athletics Meet for the Physically Handicapped, organised by the Paralympics Committee of Haryana at Faridabad from February 21 to 24. A 15 member (visually impaired) squad from Punjab took part in this four-day event and reaped a rich haul of medals.
