Dead man booked for fraud
Prime suspects move scot free
Ludhiana, February 3
Shocking, but true. The Ludhiana police has booked a dead man for fraudulently executing a sale deed by forging the signatures of a dead woman. Ram Nath, a city resident died in 1997. But as per the FIR registered by Division No.5 police on January 29, 2008, he is an accused booked under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC.

Friends of septuagenarian Harbhajan Singh knocked at his door on the cold afternoon of January 28,2006, as they had been doing daily for months to play cards. With no one answering for long time, they along with Harbhajan's son Sunil broke the door open. The sight inside send more chill in their bones than the harsh winter outside.

Kar Seva for Budda Nullah begins today
Ludhiana, February 3
Mandi Board chairman Ajmer Singh Lakhowal will start the kar sewa of Budda Nullah at Lakhowal village near here tomorrow. According to Jaswant Singh Chapa, president of the Budda Nullah Development Committee, 25 tractors will be pressed into service and the stretch of Budda Nullah passing through the village will be cleaned.

The chilly winds along with intermittent rain continue to sweep the city for the past 24 hours.The cold wave has further intensified with the decrease in the temperatures, which otherwise had increased up to 4 degree Celsius (minimum). Residents, who thought of enjoying their Sunday basking in the sun, had to remain indoors throughout the day due to biting cold. Though the exact temperature could not be known because of holiday, meteorology experts said temperature had further come down up to two degrees because of regular drizzling and chilly winds.

Ryan International School, Chandigarh, won the 10th edition of the Ryan Maggi Minithon organized by Ryan International, Ludhiana, here today. Reason behind organising such a programme was to give a competitive platform to the schoolchildren. The initiative behind Minithon was taken by Dr A.F. Pinto. The aim was to empower the students by providing them a unique platform for upgrading their skills.

NIMA rejects legislative proposal

The local branch of the National Integrated Medical Association (NIMA) has rejected the proposed "Clinical Establishments Bill" saying it will adversely affect the health care delivery system to the common people by promoting corporate and bigger hospitals.
