Hi-tech trauma centre to boost facilities at civil hospital
Jalandhar, January 15
The local civil hospital would soon have a state-of-the-art trauma centre. The construction of the centre is in full swing, minister for health and family welfare Laxmi Kanta Chawla told The Tribune at the inauguration of a pilot project for the national programme for prevention and control of diabetes, cardio-vascular diseases and stroke (NPCDS) here on Saturday.

Bonfires light up spirits at St Soldier colleges

Jalandhar, January 15
Lohri was celebrated with traditional fervour at the Paradise College of Education, St Soldier College of Education, St Soldier Degree College, St Soldier Law College, Lidhran, and St Soldier Inter-College. Chairman of the society Anil Chopra, vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra and principals of respective colleges lit the ceremonial bonfire and sat around it relishing popcorns, reories, gachak and sweets. Students performed folk dances. Students sang Lohri song and exchanged greetings.

Petrol station manager looted
Kapurthala, January 15
Six unidentifed robbers looted yesterday night Rs 55,000 and a mobile phone from the manager of a petrol station located at Pandhori Arayian village falling under Bholath police station. According to the information, manger Ravindra Gupta informed the police that the accused came in a silver-colour Honda city car. Police has started probe. — TNS
