NRI ready to provide quality mid-day meals

Nanak Kohli, a US-based NRI, is keen to provide quality mid-day meals to school students in Punjab at rates fixed by the government. “I have discussed the proposal with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and am keen to set up a centralised kitchen near here to provide mid-day meals to 1,00,00 students in the first phase”, said
Kohli, who has started a Bal-wari project in Delhi.
Punjab sends its panel for CITCO MD’s post

Punjab government has finalized the panel of three IAS officers of Punjab cadre for appointment to the post of managing director,
CITCO. The post is currently being held by Jasbir Singh Bir, a 1989 batch Punjab officer, whose deputation with UT administration is ending on April 19 this year. Bir has been holding the position for three years.

Mayor launches cleanliness campaign

Pardeep Chhabra, mayor, municipal corporation, Chandigarh, today launched a month-long cleanliness campaign from Burail village. The campaign will conclude on February 14. In the first phase, the campaign will cover colonies and villages, namely
Burail, Vikas Nagar (Mauli Jagran), Ram Darbar, Khudda Lahora and Dadumajra village.

Master Teacher award for Dr Chugh

Oriental Insurance to pay Rs 73,000
Chandigarh, January 15
The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum-II has directed Oriental Insurance Company Limited to pay a claim of Rs 73,300 to a resident of Sector 27. The forum asked the insurance firm to pay Rs 10,000 for harassment along with Rs 2,500 as cost of litigation.
