Plywood trader robbed of Rs 24 lakh
Yamunanagar, January 13 The incident has created a panic among the trading community, as it is the fourth such incident during the past six months. Suresh Kumar, a resident of Naya Gaon, owns a plywood-manufacturing unit (Gagan Plywood) on the Amadalpur road here. Arjun of local Azad Nagar was driving the car. When they reached near Aurangabad village the driver stopped the vehicle saying that someone has hit the car from the rear. The moment he got out of the car, the robbers who were in a Santro car came out and positioned a pistol on Suresh Kumar and took away the bag containing the money. The trader reported the matter to the police, which has registered a case against three unidentified persons. The police also took the driver of Indica car in custody for interrogation. Separate Gurdwara Panel
Hisar, January 13 General secretary of the HSGPC Didar Singh Nalvi said here that the demand for a separate body was in the manifesto of the Congress but the promise had not been fulfilled yet. Nalvi said Sikhs in Haryana had been seeking a separate committee since the state came into being in 1966. The provision for such a body was made in Section 72 of the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966. It specified that a separate agricultural university, university and a separate gurdwara management panel would be created for Haryana post re-organisation. An agricultural university and Kurukshetra University came into being but a separate gurdwara panel had not been established. Nalvi said a population of about 17 lakh Sikhs in Haryana overwhelmingly favoured a separate panel to manage their gurdwaras. Despite making promises, no political party made an effort to set up the panel during the time it remained in power. He said the Chautala regime had set up a separate Waqf Board for Muslims in Haryana. Earlier, the Punjab Waqf Board used to manage the waqf property in Haryana. However, Sikhs of Haryana were being denied the right to manage their places of worship. In a letter sent to the Prime Minister recently, Sikh leaders of Haryana demanded an appointment of a three-member panel to study the living conditions of Sikhs in Haryana on the lines of the Sachar Committee that had studied the living conditions of Muslims in the country. Nalvi stated that even Pakistan had established a body that enabled Sikhs to manage their places of worship in that country. He hoped that the Prime Minister would take up the issue with the Hooda government. |

Demand for permanent HC bench at Rewari
Rewari, January 13 Addressing a press conference here yesterday, former legislator and president of the SJJP Raghu Yadav said it was a matter of concern that ever since Haryana came into existence in November 1966, residents of Rewari, Mahendragarh, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Jhajjar, Bhiwani, Sirsa and a few other districts of southern and western parts of Haryana had been eluded of cheap and easy access to the High Court in Chandigarh. He said owing to the remoteness as well as non-availability of cheap and convenient means of travelling, hundreds of residents of these areas had always felt constrained to approach the High Court for redressal of their grievances. Asserting that clause 36 (2) of the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966, clearly provided for the establishment of a permanent bench of the High Court at one or more places within its jurisdiction, Raghu Yadav urged Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to initiate measures for setting up a permanent bench at Rewari. |
