Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal yesterday announced that the state Revenue Department would soon organise mutation fairs (intkaal melas) at all block and district headquarters to clear the entire backlog of pending mutation cases by January.

700 fail to reach venue

The suspension of Samjhauta Express and bus service between India and Pakistan has cast its shadow over cross-border marriages, even as more than 700 Qadian Muslims could not reach here today to attend the annual gathering of Ahmadiyyas, which began at Qadian (Gurdaspur), due to trouble in Pakistan.
