Badal seeks special package for farmers

Punjab today sought a “special package” to help the beleaguered peasantry in the state, especially with respect to farm indebtedness and demanded special incentives on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand to enable it to attract industry in the border areas.

Bir Devinder alleges yet another scam

A day after former Congress Local Government minster Chaudhary Jagjit Singh was put on the mat by a report of the Privileges Committee in a case pertaining to tampering of official record, serious allegations have been levelled against yet another senior Congress leader and former speaker Dr Kewal Krishan for conniving with officials to suppress a special audit report that exposed misuse of government funds.

SGPC slams Mann remarks on HC ruling

President of the SGPC and two senior leaders of the Akali Dal have said that they were shocked at the statement issue by Simranjit Singh Mann on the recent decision of the High Court quashing the minority status granted to SGPC-run institutions. Mann has said the case had not been properly conducted and called for the dismissal of the advocate-general.

Doctors seek law on protection
