Denial of medical claim: Pay up, insurance firm told

In two similar cases, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed New India Assurance Company Ltd to make payment to the claimants of a contributory scheme under a group medical insurance policy. The claimants had earlier been denied the claims on the grounds that they had taken treatment from a hospital that had less than 15 beds.

City girl’s essay wins prize at national-level contest

Vidushi Sood, BSc-III (non-medical) student, of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya was selected for an essay competition on the topic, ‘Progress and prospects of beam technology in Indian context.’ The event was a part of 19th all India essay contest in nuclear science and technology conducted by the department of atomic energy, GOI, for undergraduate students to mark the founder’s day celebrations of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai.

A 27-year-old mother of three committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in a locality near Rama Mandi on Tuesday.

Cops bust gang of snatchers
Jalandhar, November 13
The police busted a gang of purse snatchers and arrested a gang member, identified as Sonu of Bhargo Camp locality on Tuesday. Three stolen motorcycles have been recovered from his possession.
