Commuters travelling by buses on the Chandigarh-Patiala route this morning were in for a surprise. The transport minister, Master Mohan Lal, chose to have a first-hand experience of state-run buses, problems faced by commuters and also facilities or lack of these. It was his version of a “sangat darshan”, that too a mobile one.

Abandoned baby girl finds home

A state government employee posted in Muktsar district today formally adopted an abandoned female child. A sub-committee headed by SDM N S Brar okayed the legal formalities. Emotions ran high as Kiran Jain, wife of a social activist, sobbed while handing over the baby, nourished by her for the past eight days, to Gurvinder Kaur, wife of Gurlal Singh, in the subdivisional complex here.

DMs told to submit report
