More soldiers move HC over pension anomalies

Four pilgrims killed

10 hurt in collision

Ten persons, including seven passengers of the Somnath Express, bound for Ahmedabad from Jammu, were injured when the engine of the train collided with a truck at an unmanned level crossing at Pawar village, about 1 km from the Mukerian railway station, in the district on the Jalandhar-Pathankot railway section today, the police said.

Mealy-bug attack
Farmers urge Badal for subsidised pesticides
Chandigarh, July 13

Cotton growers in the Malwa belt have urged Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to provide subsidised pesticides to counter the attack of mealy-bug. Bogh Singh, a farmer activist, has asked Badal to provide quality pesticides recommended by the PAU and the agriculture department on subsidised rates to farmers through official channels.

Rs 600-cr credit for farmers: Capt

Punjab Agriculture Development Bank will provide a credit of Rs 600 crore in the form of agriculture loans to farmers in the state this year. The loan will be given on a long-term basis. This is a considerable increase over the credit provided to farmers last year.

Roll back interest rate hike: BKU

The BKU (Ekta) has urged the union government to roll back 2 per cent increase announced in interest rate on money to be advanced as loan to the farm sector.

Govt records just a click away
Patiala, July 13
Revenue records and information regarding other government offices in the state will now be just a click away. People will not have to make rounds of the offices of patwaris to get revenue records (farads). They can get it from kiosks that will come up in different parts of the state in the near future.

8 IPS officers shifted
Chandigarh, July 13
The Punjab government today ordered fresh postings of eight IPS officers and 29 others Punjab Police officials. Among those who got postings is the recently repatriated SSP of Chandigarh, Gaurav Yadav, who has been given the important charge of DIG (Intelligence) and also the special task force.
