18 IAS officers shifted

The Cabinet,which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here last evening, has approved the transfers and postings of 18 IAS and other officers in the state administration.

Srinagar, June 12
The state Cabinet at its meeting here last evening has approved various transfers, postings and promotions in the Power Development Department (PDD), an official spokesman said here.

Air Force recruitment rally on June 14
Udhampur, June 12
To provide employment to the youth of militancy- affected areas at their door step, the Indian Air Force has decided to hold recruitment rally on June 14 at Government Degree College, Udhampur for the youth of two districts - Udhampur and Reasi.

Two infiltrators, five militants killed
Srinagar, June 12
At least five militants, including two infiltrators and two security forces personnel, were killed and four security personnelinjured in separate incidents across Kashmir since yesterday.

18 IAS officers shifted

The Cabinet,which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here last evening, has approved the transfers and postings of 18 IAS and other officers in the state administration.

An official spokesman said Madav Lal, principal secretary, PDD, had been transferred and posted as principal secretary to Higher and Technical Education. Pankaj Jain, director genreral, IMPA ,had been posted as chief executive officer, Eco- enomic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), while A. K. Angurana, principal secretary, Higher Education, has been transferred and posted as principal secretary, PHE.

Basharat Ahmad Dar, divisional commissioner, Kashmir, has been transferred and posted as dcommissioner Secretary, PDD, while Davinder Nargotra, Commissioner Secretary, Transport, has been transferred and posted as commissioner secretary, Cooperative.

Mahboob Iqbal, commissioner secretary, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, has been posted as divisional commissioner, Kashmir, vice Basharat Ahmad Dar. Daleep Singh, transport commissioner, has been transferred and posted secretary, Transport. He will also hold the additional charge of transport commissioner.

Mandeep Kumar Bandari, additional district development commissioner, Kathua, has been transferred and posted as district development commissioner, Leh.

Mohammad Yaseen Shora, joint director, Industries, has been transferred and posted special secretary, Labour and Employment. Veenata Gupta, additional commissioner, Jammu, has been transferred and her services placed at disposal of the Finance Department for posting. Sheikh Riyaz Ahmad awaiting orders of posting has also been placed at the disposal of the Finance Department for further posting.

S. P. Bhaderwaj, special secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, has been transferred and posted director, Land Records, Jammu. Ramesh Kumar Koul, additional commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department, Jammu, has been transferred and posted as special secretary in Finance Department.

Yedullah, special secretary, Finance Department, has been transferred and posted special secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department. Abdul Majeed Ganai, special secretary, Home, has been transferred and posted as additional commissioner, Jammu. Mohammad Abass Dar, director, Local Bodies, has been transferred and posted as director, Social Welfare, Kashmir. Abdul Hamid Wani, special secretary, Cooperative, has been transferred and posted director, Local Bodies, Kashmir. Dilshad Khan, director. Social Welfare, Kashmir, to report in the General Administration Department for posting.

The state Cabinet at its meeting here last evening has approved various transfers, postings and promotions in the Power Development Department (PDD), an official spokesman said here.

S. K. Raina, superintendent engineer, PDC, has been transferred and posted as in charge chief engineer, Hydro Electric Project, Baglihar. Aftab Ahmad Chewoo, superintendent engineer, has been posted as in charge chief engineer, Generation, PDC. Dharamvir Verma, in charge chief engineer, P&MM Wing, has been transferred and posted as in charge chief engineer, Planning and Designing Wing, PDD. A. K. Koul, superintendent engineer, has been transferred and posted as in charge chief engineer, P&MM Wing, PDD vice Dharamvir Verma.

G. M. Dar, in charge chief engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir,has been transferred and posted as in charge chief engineer, PHE. Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, superintendent engineer, Hydraulic, has been posted as in charge chief engineer, LAWDA, against upgraded post. Tanveer Malik, chief engineer,PDC, has been posted as chief engineer, UEED. Farooq Ahmad Shah has been posted as in charge chief engineer, PDC. Najeebullah Mir, superintendent engineer, has been posted as chief engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir.

Air Force recruitment rally on June 14

Udhampur, June 12
To provide employment to the youth of militancy- affected areas at their door step, the Indian Air Force has decided to hold recruitment rally on June 14 at Government Degree College, Udhampur for the youth of two districts - Udhampur and Reasi.

Facing militants ,who have threatened to eliminate to those joining Indian security forces, there is enthusiasm among youth to participate in the rally. A large number youth from Muslim majority areas of Reasi like Mahore, Arnas, Ghulambarh have already registered themselves to participate in the rally.

Apart from Indian Army and Indian Air Force, other security forces have also decided to organise similar recruitment rallies to provide employment opportunity to local youth to join Indian forces. Last time when Indian Army had organised a recruitment rally, hundreds of youth had turned up to join it.

Keeping in view low level of literacy among people living in far-flung areas of Reasi and Udhampur districts, pre-recruitment coaching classes were started at Government Higher Secondary School for Boys, Udhampur from June 4 to June 14, every day to help the youth desirous of joining the Indian Air Force.

Two infiltrators, five militants killed

Srinagar, June 12
At least five militants, including two infiltrators and two security forces personnel, were killed and four security personnelinjured in separate incidents across Kashmir since yesterday.

Three militants and two Army men were killed and four soldiers injured in an encounter at Chak Changri near Gogal in the Lolab area of Kupwara district today. Acting on a tip-off on the presence of militants, a joint operation of the police and 18 RR of Army was launched leading to an encounter, the police here said. Three unidentified militants believed to be of the Lashkar-e-Toiba t and two Army men were killed and four soldiers injured in the encounter. Search of the area was going on till the last reports came in.

A Defence spokesman said here two Pakistani militants of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were gunned down in an encounter with the Army, while they tried to cross Line of Control in Baramula Sector. They were carrying AK 47 rifles, radio set, grenades, 20 kg explosives, improvised explosive device timers and detonators. At 9.45pm last night, the Army surveillance parties spotted movement of two persons carrying AK 47 rifles coming across Line of Control through a nullah, he added. Ambushes of the Army were laid as part of counter insurgency grid and fire was opened upon the militants at 11 PM. One of them was killed instantly while the other took cover and retaliated with fire. The escape routes were blocked and the militant got killed in a fierce encounter that continued, the spokesman added.

Security forces recovered two AK magazines, 55 AK rounds, and one AK type short barrel during searches at Bathandyal Behak in Karnah area of Kupwara district,the police said.

One suspected militant of the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit was held with one AK rifle, one magazine and 30 rounds by the police at Magam, Handwara in Kupwara district yesterday.
