Detection of graves of female foetuses in Patran
Chandigarh, March 19
Commissioner of Patiala Division Anjali Bhawra has indicted three former civil surgeons of the district for their failure to check the illegal practice of the medical termination of pregnancies (MTPs) at Patran where two graves of female foetuses were found in August last year.

PSEB to pay 50 pc of enhanced relief
Land acquired for power projects
New Delhi, March 19
The PSEB today gave a commitment to the Supreme Court that it would pay 50 per cent of the enhanced compensation for the land acquired from farmers to set up power projects in the state while challenging the high court verdict increasing it beyond the farmers’ demand.

Income limit up for cheap atta, dal
Chandigarh, March 19
In an effort to provide the cheap atta and daal to more number of people in Punjab, the state government tonight raised the income eligibility limit for recipients of this scheme. Now, any family that has an income less than Rs 30,000 annually will be eligible.
