Badal to take oath tomorrow
Chandigarh, February 28
Parkash Singh Badal will take oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab at noon on March 2 at the PCA stadium in Mohali. Immediately after his unanimous election as leader of the combined SAD-BJP legislature group, he called on the Punjab Governor, Gen S.F. Rodrigues( retd) at 4.30 pm at the Punjab Raj Bhavan to hand over to him the letter of support signed by 67 MLAs of the SAD-BJP combine, besides three independent MLAs.

MLAs of the BJP today elected former Cabinet minister Manoranjan Kalia as their leader in the legislature in Punjab. Two names, Kalia and Master Mohan Lal, who is also a former Cabinet minister, were proposed and the choice was narrowed down to Kalia.

The Congress has been routed from the Assembly segments falling under the Hoshiarpur parliamentary seat, losing seven out of the eight seats to the SAD-BJP alliance. The only seat the Congress managed to retain was Garhshankar, where its sitting MLA Love Kumar Gold managed to win by 4,068 votes.

Business school to be set up at Banur

Dimpa’s brother indicted

A day after declaring of the Assembly results, the Special Investigation Team, headed by Manminder Singh, SP (HQ), in his report today indicted Harpinder Singh Rajan, younger brother of Jasbir Singh Dimpa, a former MLA, and nine others in connection with poll-related violence at Beas on January 29 that left an Akali worker dead and four injured.
