Badal keeps the
guessing
game on

The Shiromani Akali Dal president, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, has kept
everybody guessing about four Assembly segments in the Ludhiana
district. Of the 10 segments (two are with the Bharatiya Janata Party in seat sharing arrangement), Mr Badal announced candidates for six only.

While the entire city is going gaga over the New Year celebrations that
last well past midnight, it means just another day for the poor
children. They feel disappointed that they were born to poor parents and
for them celebrations are just a dream.

dog has its day
The prevalent cold wave in
the region has made even animals search for warm shelters. Not many
animals were seen around as they were caught lazing in the sun. Just
like the mongrel who made himself comfortable on the bonnet of a car
parked in the sun outside the Congress Bhawan. It was a rare sight and
passers-by were stopping to have a second look at the dog. But nobody
dared disturb him! |

Ticket battle: Aspirants up the
ante

Supporters of aspirants for SAD ticket from Payal constituency were left
in the lurch after the party high command postponed the decision on the
matter. They have once again started shoring up recommendations within

The announcement of the ticket to the Mr Harish Rai Dhanda, president of
the Shiromani Akali Dal’s Legal Wing, Punjab, from the Ludhiana West
Assembly segment has brought cheers to his supporters and party workers.
They assembled at his house to congratulate him.
Mr Harish Rai Dhanda seeks blessings from his mother after being announced as a SAD-BJP nominee from the Ludhiana West Assembly segment.

Mr Brij Bhjushan Singh Bedi, chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Punjab, today said the teachings of Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar,
also known as Guru Ji among the Sangh Parivar, were more relevant today
as the country was being threatened by the sectarian and divisive
forces.
