Rainfall: Rain/snow has occurred at many places in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather was dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm. are: Jammu and Kashmir: Banihal, Pahalgam and Quazigund 1 each.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures rose in Jammu and Kashmir and east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were appreciably above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 03.2C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of December 23, 2006: Rain/snow will occur at many places in Jammu and Kashmir during next 24 hours and at isolated places during subsequent 24 hours. Rain/snow is also likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal.

Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in north Haryana and Punjab. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: Mainly dry weather.
