Admn order on birds killed in mishap
Our Correspondent

Mandi Ahmedgarh, November 8
Taking cognisance of reports about the distribution of dead and injured poultry birds at roadside dhabas and restaurants, the civil administration has directed the health authorities to take preventive measure and ensure that no such bird was cooked for human consumption. About 2,000 birds destined for Jammu and Kashmir were either killed or injured where the truck carrying them overturned near the railway crossing here last night.

The in-charge of the Civil Hospital brought the matter to the notice of the district health authorities.

Mr Mukesh Sharma, Executive Magistrate, said the truck overturned while managing a curve. As the driver and other persons accompanying the vehicle left the carriage unattended, a large number of children, mostly urchins, broke open boxes and carried injured and dead birds to their homes and later sold them at throwaway prices to dabha owners.

“As the consumption of injured and dead birds was sure to spread decease, we have directed the SMO to ensure that no such bird was cooked for human consumption at dhabas and restaurants in the area,” said Mr Sharma.

Dr Narinder Gupta, SMO, said he had brought the matter into the notice of the Civil Surgeon, Sangrur.
