SAD youth flays Khaira
: Criticising Congress district president Sukhpal Singh Khaira for demonstrating outside Trident Resort in Gurgaon, the youth wing of SAD here yesterday termed it an unsuccessful attempt of the ruling party to divert the attention from the Ludhiana City Centre scam. Punjab Youth SAD leaders alleged that Mr Khaira had been constructing his `kothi’ at Ramgarh village by getting building material from different government departments.

Phagwara
Four held
: The Phagwara police yesterday arrested three girls and a man from Urban Estate here for immoral trafficking. According to Sadar police station SHO, the police received a tip-off that a woman was running flesh trade from a rented accommodation in Urban Estate. The team raided the said house and arrested three girls and the pimp. These girls were from Nawanshahr, Phillaur and Phagwara. The pimp was from Kishanpur village in Phagwara. A case under the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act, 1956, has been registered against the accused at the Sadar police station.

Diabetes camp
: Mr Baldev Nayyar, a social worker, in collaboration with Lions Club, Banga Mehak, organised a Diabetes Detection Camp at Rai Heart Hospital, Banga, about 13 km from here, on Wednesday. As many as 87 persons were examined and 43 were found to be diabetic.

Yoga camp: A one-day yoga camp was organised at the KC College of Education here on Wednesday. Varinder Nuri, a disciple of Swami Ramdev, demonstrated various yogasans and pranayam to overcome stress and cure various ailments. As many as 100 students, teachers and staff members attended the camp, said the college Principal, Dr Anita Verma.

CHANDIGARH

Yoga camp: A “pranayam shivir” is going on at GGDSD College, Sector 32. The camp is being held from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm and will continue till November 7.

Liquor contractors meeting: The Chandigarh Liquor Contractors Association has decided to enforce the rates fixed by the Excise Department. The issue was taken up at a meeting of the association held under the chairmanship of Mr S.P.S. Chhina. It was also decided to recover the excess amount charged by beer companies from the licencee.

Elected: The following have been elected office-bearers of the Haryana Government Press Employees Union: president; vice-president — Mr Surender Mohan; general secretary — Mr Vishal Chadha; secretary — Mr Manohar Lal; cashier — Mr Dharam Pal; vice-cashier — Mr Hari Singh; auditor — Mr Baldev Singh; and propaganda secretary — Mr Shamsher Singh.
