Annual celebrations of GGSSC to begin today
Ludhiana, October 26 People from all parts of the world are coming to attend the annual function. The inauguration of the function will be performed by Jathedar Avtar Singh, president, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee. The guest of honour will be Mr Raja Singh Texla, chairman, Guru Ram Das Educational Trust. The chief guest will be Mr Charanjit Singh, Deputy Speaker, Lok Sabha. During the two days, the panelists will discuss the influence of modern times on youth of the nation. On the October 28, a host of important political and religious leaders will address the meeting. Ludhiana, October 26 A cultural troupe consisting of 21 members from Bulgaria performed at the inaugural function. The artistes performed well. A rich cultural programme, including folk songs and dances, were presented by the troupe. The theme of the programme is to promote culture, sports and relations between the two countries under a student exchange programme. Olympian Davinder Singh Garcha and Mr Malkiat Singh Dakha, MLA, were the guests of honour. The Principal, Dr Balwant Singh, said it the programme would provide an opportunity to students to interact with international students. Students of the Partap College of Education presented Rajasthani, Haryanvi and classical dances, besides group song, bhangra and giddha. Heritage festival
A four-day youth and heritage festival of Panjab University Ludhiana Zone-B will be held at SDP College for Women from October 28 to 31. Dr Giridhar
Gamang, MP and former Chief Minister of Orissa, will preside. Mr Harnam Das Johar, Minister for Public Health and Sanitation, Mr
B.D. Budhiraja, Dean, College Development Council, Panjab University, Mr Parag Jain, DIG, Mr Vikas Partap Singh, MC Commissioner, and Ms Amrit Kaur Gill, SDM, will preside over the inaugural session while Mr S.R. Kaler, Additional Chief Administrator, PUDA, Dr Amarjit Singh Dua, former Dean, College Development of Guru Nanak Dev University, and Mr I.D. Singh, General Manager, Punjab south zone of the PNB, will be the chief guests during the evening sessions. More than 1,100 students of 14 women colleges of Ludhiana district will take part and showcase their
talent. Excursion
Students of the Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology for Women visited the Golden Temple complex, Amritsar, yesterday. The students were accompanied by Prof Jagdev Singh Rana, Prof Amanpreet Kaur and Prof Neeraj Gupta. This was stated in a press statement today. The students participated in the “sukhasan.” |
Sacred Heart alumni activities
Ludhiana, October 26 Dr Dinesh Goyal, vice-president of the alumni association, told the students to believe in themselves. Aman Dhal, Anurag Soi, Mahavir Goyal and Amol Sachdeva, also gave tips to the students of classes X and XI. In the interactive session they settled the queries of the students. A talent hunt was conducted in which 20 students participated. Gayatri, Sidak Singh and Priyal Garg came first, second and third, respectively. |
