Nominated: The following have been nominated to an ad hoc committee formed under the chairmanship of Mr B.M. Sharma, a resident of House No. 2279/2, Sector 45-C, Chandigarh: president — Mr M.P. Bhardwaj; vice-president — Mr Viney Mehra; general secretary — Mr O.P. Mehta; and treasurer — Mr S.D. Verma.

Bar Association: The Bar Association of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has expressed grief over the death of its member, Nirmal Singh Dhillon, who died in a road accident while on his way from Leh to Srinagar on October 15. Mr Anmol Rattan Sidhu, president of the Bar Association, said after attending his bhog ceremony at Samrala on October 25, the bar would organise a condolence meeting at the High Court.

Sentenced: The Judicial Magistrate (First Class), Mr Balwinder Kumar, on Monday sentenced an Akali leader, Jaswant Singh Mann, to two years of imprisonment for being involved in a case of cheating. A case under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC had been registered against the Akali leader on the basis of a complaint lodged by Wg-Cdr Hazara Singh.

Delegation: A delegation of HCS and PCS officers called upon the UT Adviser, Mr Lalit Sharma, on Monday. Though the agenda of the meeting could not be known, it is learnt that the repatriation of Mr W.S. Goyat was discussed.

Exhibition: An exhibition, titled “Parliamentary Democracy: Our Heritage and Achievements,” will be organised by the Parliamentary Museum and Archives Division of the Lok Sabha Secretariat at Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10, from October 30 to November 3.
