City students excel in BPT exams
Ludhiana, October 15 According to principal of the institutions, Rupanjeet Kaur Kler and Charishma Monga bagged the first and second position, respectively in the second year exam, while Kosh Ankur Paul and Anjana Guleria bagged second and third positions in the third year examination of BPT. Four other students of second year made it to the merit list, as Mandeep Kaur and Navaldeep Kaur both secured fourth position, while Suman Saini and Rajneet Kaur Sahni were placed fifth and tenth positions, respectively. In the third year results as well, three other students of the institution were among the top 10 scorers with Natasha Sharma bagging the fourth position, Kirandeep Kaur and Gagandeep Kaur securing eighth and tenth positions, respectively.
KVM celebrates Innovation Day
Ludhiana, October 15 The Annual Report of Ignited Minds Club was read out on the occasion and a multi-media presentation on education system by 2020 and Conservation of Bio-Diversity were very informative. The choreography Heritage of India showing Unity in Diversity was liked by all. The chief guest, while addressing the students, stressed upon the need of development of body, mind and soul in perfect co-ordination in order to achieve perfect growth of nation. As a part of the Innovation Day Celebrations, an annual exhibition was also held which was formally inaugurated by Mr Ashok Gupta. The exhibition displayed charts and models in all the subjects in an innovative way.

BVM school players honoured
Ludhiana, October 15 The function was held at Sharda SVM Senior Secondary School, 40-D, Chandigarh, yesterday. Mr H S Sidhu, Chairman, Punjab School Education Board, was the chief guest on the occasion. According to Mr Baljit Singh Gill, Director, Sports, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Schools, as many as 20 students of BVM Schools which include 12 students from the Udham Singh Nagar branch and eight from the Kitchlu Nagar branch were felicitated for their stupendous performance at the function. Players who were honoured include Karanveer Singh, Kirti Aggarwal and Nirdosh Sood (table tennis); Amandeep Singh and Deepak Gautam (athletics); Amitoj, Guneet, Neelaksha, Vibha, Gurwinder, Ankur, Sumit and Tarun Thapar (yoga); Smile, Bikramjeet Singh and Kishanjeet Singh (swimming); Manisha Verma (basketball); Rihsi Batta (chess); Lakshay and Rajdeep Pabbi (volleyball). |
Students showcase fashion for a cause
Ludhiana, October 15 Ms Anjali Awasthi, Director of the institute, said the carnival was the result of hard efforts put in by over 100 students. More than 20 stalls were put up on the occasion. The stalls of games, eateries, aromatic candles, tarot card reading, designer clothes and astrology were great crowd pullers. All items on display, including shagun thalis, envelopes, small decorative boxes and designer clothes, were made by the students themselves, she added. The students had also made special Divali gifts, decorative tissue flowers, exotic chocolates, trousseau-packing material, which were well appreciated by visitors. One of the students, Rishu, a second-year designing student, said they had put in sincere efforts to help the downtrodden. “The management has decided to give the collected money to the Red Cross. Some amount will be spent on medicines for thalassaemic children,” she said. Meanwhile, students of J.D. Institute also displayed their creativity in the form of an exhibition here today. Students from fashion designing, interior designing, textile designing and jewellery designing showcased their skills via this exhibition. This was the first time that students had gone beyond just creating commodities. They presented real-life designer showroom/ studio setups. The fashion students made kurtis, tunics, kaftans, besides other things. Their range of accessories included beautiful belts, handbags, footwear and mobile covers. “The students have put in their best and are now looking forward to acceptance and appreciation from the market. They have predicted the trends that will dominate the markets in the coming season with their flamboyant collections,” said Pragati Taneja, Director of the institute. Their entire collection was split up in a two-room display. One having the theme “Diamond” and the other “Sapphire”. The Diamond boutique had all crystals, silver glitters and swaroski in it. It had an array of glittering evening gowns, ethnic party wear and smart garments. Bright butterflies adorned the walls of the room while mirrors and arabian sequins complemented the theme. The Sapphire theme had a melange of blues, pinks and ochre in its theme as well as the creations. Students made hand-painted kurtis, sequined kaftans, intricately embroidered tunics, as well as sultry night-wear. Satins, laces, pearls, nets and various accessories ruled the ambience. The interior designing students presented the entire concept of a kid’s bedroom. Brightly painted walls with funky graffiti were the centre of attraction. An elaborate study table gave maximum utility in a minimum given space while maintaining its aesthetic value. It had provision for keeping books, stationery, and ample space for a child to develop his creative talents by doodling, painting. Beautiful rugs, which could pep up any environment, covered the floor that surrounded the kids playing area. |
GK exam
Ludhiana, October 15 The students were divided into A & B groups. Group A had students upto Class VIII whereas the Group B students were from higher classes. The paper was of one hour duration. The result of the test would be declared in five days and the student bagging the first three-position would get Rs 5,000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000, respectively. |

Nishkam students get stipends,
certificates
Ludhiana, October 15 As many as 22 students of Nishkam Sewing Centre and 12 students of the beautician course were also awarded certificates on the occasion. Mr K.K Sood said Nishkam was running other centres like Vriddh Ashram, Vidya Mandir in slums, dispensaries, hospitals, TB Clinic, Shishu Sewa Sadan (Home for Orphans) etc for the needy. Mr Sarwan Kumar appealed to the guests to plant at least one tree. Mr Sarwan Kumar , chairperson of Nishkam Sewa Sadan, said Nishkam was not just an NGO but it is a philosophy.
