Traffic curbs for PM’s visit tomorrow
Ludhiana, September 25  
The district administration has imposed severe traffic restrictions in and outside the city during the visit of the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh on Wednesday. No outside vehicle coming towards Ludhiana would be allowed into the city. The traffic will take alternative routes on Jalandhar Delhi Road, Ferozepore-Jalandhar Road, Chandigarh-Ferozepore Road and Malerkotla-Ludhiana Road. The administration has ensured that no outside traffic passes through Ludhiana from seven in the morning till one in the afternoon.

Firearms to be deposited with police
Ludhiana, September 25
DC Ashok Kumar Gupta has issued orders under Section 144, CrPC, directing the people in certain areas to deposit their fire arms with police as a part of VVIP security arrangements for the visit of Prime Minister on September 27.

The purchase of paddy by the Punjab government started at different places in the state. At Khanna, the Asia’s biggest grain market, Ms Harbans Kaur Dullo, Parliamentary Secretary, formally inaugurated the purchase by the government agencies. The first lot was purchased by Punsup.

Ram’s wedding procession taken out 
Mandi Ahmedgarh, September 25
Artistes of the Ramlila Committee organised a marriage procession before dramatising Sita swambar at MGMN Senior Secondary School here last night. A large number of “baratis” joined the religious procession that marched through Railway Road, Chaura Bazaar, Mahavir Road, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Gandhi Chowk and Dehliz Road.

One booked for rape
Jagraon, September 25
The local police has registered a case under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC against Davinder Singh of Lamme village. He was booked for raping a girl of the village. The case was registered on the complaint of victim’s father.
