Workshop on literary items ends

Speaking on the concluding day of the 5-day workshop on literary items Dr R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, exhorted the power of youth and opined that the youth of India was not only the future of our country but also of today’s globalised world. The chief guest, Dr S.M. Kant, Director, Youth Welfare, Panjab University, said the workshop was organised with the aim to provide the young and budding speakers with a platform to sharpen, polish and perfect their speaking skills. The workshop was well attended by about 60 students

OCET results

The university today declared the results of the entrance test (OCET - 2006) for vacant seats in PU teaching departments, PU regional centres at Ludhiana, Muktsar and for the affiliated colleges under general as well as the NRI category. Seventeen tests covering 22 courses were conducted from August 20-23, 2006. The seats under the NRI category in various PU teaching departments available are MCA (9), M.Sc. hons. Sch. in biochemistry (2), biotechnology (2), botany (3), computer science (3), chemistry (2), mathematics (3), microbiology (2), zoology (5), environment (9) and for M.A. English (14). Similarly in M. Tech (microelectronics /instrumentation) (8 each) and M.Tech. (nanoscience and nanotechnology) (5) and for B.P.Ed 7 general and 5 seats under the NRI category are vacant, respectively. Whereas the seats in LL.B. at the regional centers of Muktsar and Ludhiana 15 and 20 (general category) 5 and 10 under the NRI category, respectively are available. The vacant seats in affiliated colleges under the general category in M.B.E. are 47 while bioinformatics, chemistry and zoology have 46 vacancies.

Seminar on international marketing

International marketing is the performance of business activities that direct the flow of a company’s goods and services to consumers in more than one nation to 
profit.

This was stated by Prof Sujoy Dasgupta while addressing a seminar on International Marketing, organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today. The seminar was organised with an objective to familiarise executives with the fundamentals of international marketing and the basic issues for finding markets, products, and buyers.

On the subject of dealing with foreign customers, Dr S.K. Chadda, Professor, University Business School, Panjab University, said while finding a foreign buyer it is important to analyse their market size, market growth, market accessibility, economic stability, political climate, cultural climate, environmental factors and also the geographical factors.

Earlier, Mr P.K. Verma, Regional Director, PHDCCI, in the inaugural session said the phenomenon of marketing has two different processes, technical and social.
