Prof A.S. Ahluwalia, PUTA president, along with Mr Manjit Singh, secretary, and Mr Rajan Gaur, vice-president, met Prof R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, to reiterate the demand that superannuated teachers be re-employed till the age of 65 years.
They placed before him the copy of letters from the UGC, MHRD and the Punjab Government which stated that in order to meet the demand for regular teachers in universities, “superannuated teachers could be re-employed up to the age of 65 years”.
The Vice-Chancellor marked the letter for its incorporation into the forthcoming Syndicate agenda.
Regarding campus security, cleanliness and waste management, a committee has already been constituted. Similarly, a separate committee for the landscaping of the campus has been constituted.
PUTA representatives also drew attention of the Vice-Chancellor towards the need for space for the faculty of the Department of Evening Studies.
Meanwhile, the PUTA executive unanimously co-opted four Senate members into the newly-elected PUTA executive.
4 get CBSE merit certificates

Mohali, August 20
Four students of Gian Jyoti Public School here have been awarded certificate of merit by the CBSE. The board awards these in each subject to candidates for outstanding performance in its secondary school and senior school certificate examination. The students are: Sneha Chum, Abhishekh Khanna, Devinder Kaur and Sadhvi Mehta.
