The BJP today criticised the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s decision to hike salaries of MLAs and Ministers saying it was carried out overlooking the bad financial health of the state.

Salaries and allowances of the legislators, ministers and deputy ministers were hiked manifold overlooking the bad financial health of the state, BJP state unit president Nirmal Singh said.

Terming the decision as “anti-people”, he said on the one hand highly educated youths are being appointed on an ad-hoc basis in education, agriculture and health departments on a meagre salary even less than what a labourer earns in a month, on the other hand enhanced considerably the salaries and other perks of legislators with one stroke of pen. — PTI
