For once, the day did not dawn hot and sultry. As the monsoon gained form and momentum unleashing strange formations in the sky, the daylights disappeared into nothingness, literally.

Dimpy murder: ex-OSD of CM, others quizzed
Chandigarh, July 9
The Chandigarh Police today questioned a former OSD (officer on special duty) of Punjab’s Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, in connection with the murder of notorious gangster, Prabjinder Singh Dimpy, who was gunned down by two unidentified motorcyclists in the high security zone of the city.

The police has arrested a Panchkula resident for allegedly attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman in Manimajra.

The police has nabbed two members of an inter-state gang involved in several cases of car theft and other crimes. The alleged culprits were produced before mediapersons today at a press conference.

Ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh stolen
Mohali, July 9
Thieves decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh and Rs 30,000 in cash from a house in Phase 7 here today. The owner Sarabjit Singh told the police that he along with his family had gone to Pathankot on July 5 and came back today afternoon.

4 arrested for dowry harassment

The police today arrested four members of a Sector 47-based family in connection with a dowry harassment case.

Centre mulls agro-science colleges under ICAR umbrella

The Union Government is actively considering to establish agriculture science colleges all over the country on the pattern of engineering and medical colleges and Rs 2,600 crore has been earmarked for the purpose under the 11th Five-Year Plan.

A team of specialists in cancer and cardiology will now be available for consultation in Chandigarh. As part of the new skill bank created by Dr S.S. Samra of Grecian Super specialty hospital in Mohali, oncologist Jatin Sarin, cardiothoracic surgeon Rahul Kaiche and cardiologist Sudheer Saxena will work together for cancer and cardiac patients in regions north of Delhi.
