Model villages in memory of martyrs

Mr Shamsher Singh Dullo, PPCC President, today said that as a mark of respect, villages of martyrs would be developed as model villages at a cost of Rs 1 crore each and Uchi Rabbon, the native village of the first martyr of the freedom movement of the country, Baba Maharaj Singh, would also be included in the list.

Labour unrest at cycle units
Ludhiana, July 5
Labour activity surfaced at two cycle parts manufacturing units of the KW Engineering Group in Focal Point here today. Of the total 500 workers in these units, over 200 stopped work and alleged that the management had forcibly turned them out. The management, on the other side, claimed that 40 workers had resigned on their own and said it was willing to take back the remaining workers who are "absent from duty".

Rajesh, a criminal, who was shot dead in an encounter with the Haryana police on Sunday in Kaithal had strong connections with Ludhiana, where he had been hiding by working as a labourer at a couple of factories. The families of his two uncles also live here. Rajesh , who was involved in kidnappings for ransom, was wanted in over 12 cases and was being chased by a team of Ludhiana police too, who suspected his role in the kidnapping of Vikramjit Singh, son of an industrialist.

PAU training course for farmers

A three-month training course for young farmers will be held at the PAU’s Centre of Training, Kairon Kisan Ghar, from August 1 to October 27. This course will be organised under the aegis of the Directorate of Extension Education. Applicants who are matriculates and are in the age bracket of 20-40 years can apply from all districts of Punjab, except Gurdaspur and Amritsar.
