Various social and religious organisations of the area felicitated Gurinderjit Singh Hara, a member of Pelican Cricket Club, winner of Pelecavian World Cricket Trophy, held at Johannesburg and Durbin recently.
Led by Mr Rachhpal Singh Hara, DSP Malerkotla, office-bearers of various organisations garlanded Gurinderjit Singh Hara at a brief function organised at local town and Sahnewal.
While addressing the gathering at local M G M N Secondary School, Mr Rachhpal Singh said Gurinderjit had brought laurels to the area by exhibiting commendable bowling and fielding during matches played in South Africa. “Despite getting sick during the journey, Gurinderjit played well during the international matches and received many prizes during the event,” claimed Mr Hara.
Gurinderjit Singh Hara, a class IX student of Ryan International School, was the lone Punjabi sub-junior cricketer to represent India in Pelecavian World Cricket Trophy which, concluded in South Africa recently.
Gurinderjit, said he got success due to efforts of coach Amrik Singh Nagra and the blessings of his parents.
“Though my coach and team management was satisfied with my performance, I know that much is still to be done. I have to keep my pursuit for excellence in game alive, expressed Gurinderjit.
