Health camp for students

Euro Kids, Phase IV, here conducted a health camp for all its students. The data will be processed by the doctor and feedback will be given to their parents.

Guidance for the latest immunisation schedule would also be given. Dr Gaurav Gupta, a child specialist, examined over 50 children who are attending the summer camp sponsored.

Chandigarh clinch u-19 Dhruv Pandove trophy

Chandigarh completed the formality of defeating Patiala on the basis of first innings 160-run lead to clinch the top honours in under-19 inter district tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy played at PCA Stadium, here today.

Chandigarh today scored 231 runs for 4 wickets in 77 overs before the umpires called off play in the favour of the team. Sumit Dhiman scored a brilliant unbeaten century (130 off 213), studded 13 fours and a huge six. Accompanying him, Gurkirat made 41 runs and the duo shared a partnership of 104 runs between themselves.

Earlier, in their first innings, Chandigarh mustered 429 for 8 in 95 runs. In reply, Patiala could pile up just 269 runs and conceded a lead of 160 runs.

Besides lifting trophy, the winners received a cheque of Rs.20,000 as cash award.

Rehatbir shines in u-14 tennis tourney

Chandigarh, June 8
Harmeet Singh, Rehatbir Singh Mann and Varun Sharma won top honours in the under-12, under-14 and under-18 categories, respectively, in the Lake Club League-cum-Knockout Tennis Competitions for trainees at the Lake Club courts held here today.

Harmeet Singh of Guru Nanak, Sector 35, put up a great show and determination as well to beat Srijan Uppal of DAV Public School, Sector 8 by 4-6 6-2 6-0 in the Under-12 final.

In the under 14 category, Rehatbir Singh Mann of St Stephen’s School, Sector 45 defeated Ravnoor Kaur of Sacred Heart 26 easily in straight sets 6-1 6-2 to capture the title. Rehatbir Singh Mann didn’t even lose even a single match during the round robin league and knockout stage.

He was also declared “unbeatable player’’ of the tournament.

Varun Sharma of DAV School, Sector 15, prevailed over Raja Insanbir Singh of St John’s High School 26 by 6-4, 6-4 by a single break in both the sets.

Under-12: Harmeet Singh bt Srijan Uppal 4-6 6-2 6-0; under-14: Rehatbir Singh Mann bt Ravnor 6-1 6-2; and under-18: Varun Sharma bt Raja Insanbir Singh 6-4 6-4.
