Flesh trade
: The district police on Wednesday arrested a woman and two girls for flesh trade here. According to information, the girls belong to Himachal and the woman used to supply them to customers. The police raided the house of the accused after a tip-off.

Exhibition: Shillpa Purii, a jewellery designer from Mumbai, showcased her latest designs, in 22k and 18k gold jewellery here today. A Hong Kong trained designer she displayed an exquisitely prepared Kundan set.

Poetry recitation: Senior Study School has claimed top honours in an inter-school English poetry recitation contest organised by the host school. More than nine schools participated in the contest. The students who stood first in each category are: Class VI-Bhavna Mehra of Bhavan’s S.L. Public School ; Class VII -Kanisha Arora of Senior Study ; Class VIII -Sidharth Khanna of Senior Study; Class IX -Pragati Nandwani of Senior Study; and Class X -Tanvi Dhingra of Spring Dale Senior School.

Man booked
: A case under Section 306 of the IPC was registered on Friday against a man on charges of sexually exploiting his stepdaughter. The man’s wife and his daughter had killed themselves by jumping before a train on Thursday. The accused, Yashpal, is a resident of Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar. The complaint was registered on behalf of the victim by her relatives and social organisations.

Four held for sodomy: Four persons were arrested on Friday on charges of sodomising an eight-year-old boy a fortnight back. The accused, Ashwini Kumar, Mandeep Kumar, Lal Chand and Keena, are residents of Nangal Karakhan. They have been booked under Sections 377, 323, 325, 506, and 120B of the IPC. The accused had even reportedly beaten up the father of the victim and had broken his arm.

Two scribes hurt
: Two scribes sustained serious injuries when the tyre of the motorcycle they were riding burst on the G.T. Road near Saprod village here on Friday. Parveen Kanojia and Pardeep Gill were on their way to an accident site near the village. The victims were brought to the Civil Hospital by police personnel.

Cow smuggling
: The police arrested four persons for smuggling cows and calves at a dhaba in Guda village on Wednesday. About 30 cows and calves were being smuggled to Faruknagar from Rohtak. The owner of the dhaba, Ranjit Singh, has been arrested.

Sentenced: The Additional District and Sessions Judge Mr Rajender Prasad sentenced a murder accused to life imprisonment on Thursday. The accused, Dinesh, resident of Gwalison, had killed a youth of same village during a marriage function when they had gone to Maharana village in November 2002.

REWARI
Killed in altercation
: In an altercation between members of two families over a disputed plot at Jaitrawas village, about 10 km from here, on Wednesday, Karambir was killed while five others, including two women, were injured. The injured have been hospitalised here. On a complaint lodged by Paltu Ram, a member of the family of the deceased, the Rampura police has registered a case of murder, rioting and causing hurt against the accused-Rajender, his three brothers- Ramesh, Rohtash and Kamal Singh and eight others, including five women.

Car taken away: Armed youths looted Rs 700 and snatched an Indica car (HR 60 AY 4949) at pistol point from its driver Yogender Yadav in Sector 3 here on Wednesday. The youths intercepted the Indica car, overpowered its driver and then drove away towards Dharuhera. Thereafter, they fled after dropping Yogender Yadav at Akera village near Dharuhera. On his complaint, the Model Town police here has registered a case of robbery against the accused.
