Students hold protest against UGC
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, April 14
UGC-NET aspirants organised a candle light protest at the Gandhi Samarak Bhavan, Sector-16, here today. They raised slogans against the UGC policies for NET exam. Those who had qualified the test with junior research fellowship (JRF) but were not getting scholarship because of the delay on the part of the UGC also participated in the protest.

Talking to mediapersons, the protesters said as per the UGC norms the result of the previous test was usually declared before the last date of the submission of the forms for the next test. But for the last two tests the UGC was not declaring the result in time and the students had to pay fees for the next exam.

Deepti Rani, who had appeared in the December 2005 exam, doubted that the UGC would delay the result this time too. “If result is not declared before April 28, I will have to fill up the NET form again. If the result is declared 4-5 days before the June exams than I will not be able to study for the exam,” she said.
