Chandigarh, March 26
The 13th blood donation camp, organised by the Uttarakhand Yuva Manch, Chandigarh, was held today here at Garhwal Bhavan in Sector 29.
A large number of volunteers, including women, donated blood at the camp. On this occasion, a free dental check-up camp was also organised.

The camp was inaugurated by Mr Nareh Kaushal, Editor, Dainik Tribune. Mr Kaushal lauded the efforts of Uttarakhand Yuva Manch and its volunteers in organising such camps.

Dr Manmeet Aneja, a Chandigarh-based dentist, gave his services free of cost on the occasion.

He informed people about various common diseases related to teeth and about the importance of oral hygiene.

The camp was organised for Transfusion Medicine, Blood Bank, PGI, Chandigarh.

Calcutta power board win in hockey

Chandigarh, March 26
Riding high on the two goals through A Tirkey, Calcutta Electricity Supply Corporation today outplayed Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board by 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the 32nd AIESCB Hockey Tournament being held at hockey stadium, Sector 42, here.

The first goal was scored in the first minute of the game through A.P. Ekka. Tirkey extended the lead in the seventh minute with a superb field goal. The other contributors for the winners were K Kujur and S Saha, who netted one goal each.

In the second match, Haryana State Electricity Board got the better of Chhatisgarh State Electricity Board 3-0. Naveen struck two goals in 24th and 68th minutes.

In the last match of the day, BBMB team lost to MPSEB team by 2-7. The main contributors for the winners were Richard, who netted three goals whereas Santosh Patro scored two goals. Sanjay Kumar of BBMB reduced the lead by hitting two goals against the strong rivals.

Chopra, Sana win golf title

S.S. Chopra and I.K. Sana were declared winners under 70 years and above category while Master Manteg Veer Singh along with his partner Brig J.S. Randhawa won the longest drive event (274 m) in below 50 years category in the golf event, which was held to mark the annual “Captain’s Day” celebration at Chandigarh Golf Club, here, today.

Captain of the golf course S.M.S. Sandhu gave away the prizes while president of the club G.S. Sandhu presented the “Hole-in-One” trophies (21 nos.) and the prizes for Independence Day Cup.

Mr S.M.S. Sandhu informed the house about the introduction of new equipments like toro green cutter, gang mower and green polishers to upgrade the stock of the machinery at the club.

Kohli wins golf tourney

S.C. Kohli was declared the winner with best individual scores followed by K.S.D. Bhattal while S.M.S. Sandhu scored maximum birdies during the Engineers’ Friendship Golf Tournament held at the Chandigarh Golf Club, here, today.

K.S. Bhattal was adjudged the winner in closest to pin category. In the longest drive event (70 years and above) men’s category, S.D. Kaila went home with the winner’s tag. In the 50-70 years category, Col S.S. Gill bagged the winner’s title.

In the ladies putting competition, Kiran Sandhu stood first while Devinder was placed at the second position.

Thapar Engineering College and College of Military Engineering was declared the joint winners in the team event as both teams scored 127 points each.

TTFI hails successes in Melbourne

The Table Tennis Federation of India has hailed the Indian table tennis players for winning two gold and one bronze medals in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Mr Ajay Singh Chautala, MP and president of the TTFI, congratulated the players, coaches and the officials of the federation. He also hoped that the winning spree would continue in the forthcoming international events.

Hari Narayan wins body building contest

Hari Narayan of Harry Power Club won the Mr Chandigarh and Mr Classic titles during the 17th Mr Chandigarh and 6th Mr Classic Chandigarh Body Building Championship held at DAV College, Sector 10, here, today. The event was organised by the Chandigarh Amateur Body Building Association.

Bon Sante Health Club won the overall championship with 270 points while Suprema Health Club got second place with 76 points. Mandeep (Suprema) stood second while the third place went to Prem Chaudhary (Suprema) followed by Mohinder Pal Gupta (Bon Sante) and Harvinder Sekhon (Suprema) at the fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Anurag is Mr Chandigarh

Anurag Pandey won the Mr Chandigarh (Best Poser) title in the Mr Chandigarh Body Building Competition at Sanjay Public School, Sector 70,here today.
In the Mr Chandigarh Classic competition, he came third .

Over 60 body builders participated in the competition, which was divided in eight categories. Anurag participated in the below 75 kg category.

As many as seven rounds were held in which the participants had to demonstrate seven poses.

Former Mr Universe (1994) Prem Chand was the chief judge of the competition, which was organized by the Chandigarh Body Building association.
