Pak music eating into Indian market: Palash
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, February 12
Here is a singer who knows his mind and doesn't mince words making it public. Palash Sen — leader of the music band, Euphoria, today said Pakistani music bands were eating into the Indian music market which should promote Indian talent.

In the city to perform at Pecfest 06, Palash shared his resentment about the fact that while Pakistani musicians and rock bands were allowed to perform, no Indian could perform in Pakistan. “I have nothing against any band or country but if there is a relationship it has to be reciprocal. And it is not Pakistan which is to be blamed. We are the ones who are foolish. Instead of supporting and promoting the hoards of talent that this nation has, the music industry is promoting any music that comes from Pakistan or any other nation if it is free. Also our industry is going retro, busy remixing old songs." he said.

In an entertainment world that is riding piggy bank on vulgarity and skin show, Palash, who is also a doctor, says he is not going to compromise on the ‘family’ appeal of his songs and videos. "We have complete say in the way the videos are made. And they have to be the kind you can watch with your parents and children," he pointed out.

Known to be the band of the 'thinking' youth, Euphoria shot to fame with their first album ‘dhoom’ followed by ‘phir dhoom’ and then ‘gali’. "We are ready with our next album ‘mehfuz’. As the name suggests, the 12 songs in the album are definitely mature and mellower. There is Ghazal, Rock and Jazz. Like always, we have not followed any trend. We just make the music we believe in," he said. "I just write my songs and compose them I do not believe in singing someone's lyrics or on someone else's music. Then I am not being myself but someone else. That is one reason I have not taken to playback singing," he said adding that his kind of music has made a niche for itself.

"We have dedicated followers who listen to our music and appreciate it. We do over 10 shows each month. Despite the fact that I have done some acting, making music and singing remains my first love. But I think being a doctor is cool, more than being a singer. I still practice and it is satisfying when you have cured someone," he said.
