Athletics meet

Ludhiana, February 7
Mandeep Singh, student of College of Agriculture, made his presence felt winning two titles on the opening day of the 40th annual athletics meet of the Punjab Agricultural University here today. He grabbed top honours in the 110m hurdles and triple jump.

In the women’s section, Balinder Kaur Chahal and Harmeet Kaur, both from the College of Agriculture, shared the honours clinching one gold medal each. In the 1500m race, Balinder Kaur proved her mettle while Harmeet Kaur captured the title in the javelin throw.

Results: (Men): hammer throw: Harvinder Singh, College of Veterinary Sciences 1, Gupreet Singh, College of Agriculture 2 and Tejdeep Singh, College of Agriculture 3; 110m hurdles: Mandeep Singh, College of Agriculture 1, Bhupinder Singh Gill, College of Agriculture and Engineering 2 and Sukhbir Singh, College of Agriculture 3; triple jump: Mandeep Singh, College of agriculture 1, Gursharan Singh, College of Veterinary Sciences 2 and Gagandeep Singh, College of Agriculture 3; 5000m: Sukhwinder Singh, College of Agriculture 1, Narinder Singh, College of Agriculture 2 and Jagbir Singh, College of Agriculture 3; javelin throw: Harvidner Singh, College of Veterinary Sciences 1, Gurinder Pal Singh, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities 3.
