Cop killed, MLA’s house attacked

Militants killed a head constable and attacked the house of an MLA in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said today. He said militants threw a hand grenade on house of MLA Abdul Majid Wani at Bharat Doda last evening. The grenade exploded near the police guard injuring three Special Police Officers.

The Police rescued three girls, who were kidnapped and confined in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, and have arrested a youth in this connection.

He said militants threw a hand grenade on house of MLA Abdul Majid Wani at Bharat Doda last evening. The grenade exploded near the police guard injuring three Special Police Officers (SPOs).

The MLA however, was not present in the house at the time of attack, he said adding the militants later escape.

Militants kidnapped and later killed police head constable Ghulam Nabi Lone at Amirabad Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama last night.

Security forces recovered three hand grenades and 102 rounds of ammunition from a hideout at Doda last night. — UNI

3 kidnapped girls rescued

Jammu, February 7
The Police rescued three girls, who were kidnapped and confined in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, and have arrested a youth in this connection.

The girls, including one from Himachal, were rescued from Rajauri, Poonch and Jammu districts in a joint operation by police forces of J-K and Himachal official sources said.

While two of the kidnappers escaped, one of them, a youth named Shalinder, was arrested, they said adding that a manhunt had been launched to nab others. — PTI
