championship Sumandeep Kaur of Dev Samaj College, Sector 45, will lead the Chandigarh women football team in the forthcoming 14 th Senior Women’s National Football Championship to be held at Bhilai (Chhatisgarh) from February 10. The other members of the team are Anjana Thakur, Pooja, Rupinder Kaur, Anju Rana, Manisha, Parminder Kaur, Jyoti, Prabhjot, Rajni, Ayushi, Ritu Gupta, Anjana Dogra, Parveen, Poonam Deol, Kamlesh, Nisha, Shikha and Manmeet. The team will leave for Bhilai tomorrow 7 and will take on Tamil Nadu on February 11. Badminton tourney Panchkula: Assam beat Maharashtra 3-0 in a one-sided affair tie on the inaugural day of 20 th All-India Postal Badminton Tournament held at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Sector 3, here, today. Dr U.S. Raghavan, Secretary, Department of Posts, Government of India, inaugurated the meet in which as many as 16 teams of the Postal Department are participating. Annual sports day at KV-2 Chandigarh, February 7 Air Cmdre. R.K. Srivastava, AOC, 3 BRD, AFS and Chairman, VMC, KV2, 3BRD was the chief guest on the occasion. After unfurling the flag, several innovative sports events like tunnel race, relay race, collecting ball, balancing ball, traffic drill and dressing up race were organised. Adding a dash of colour and adventure on the field was the dumbbell show which had children dressed as black commandos. Later, Ms Reena Srivastava, President, AFWWA (L), gave away the prizes to the winners.
