Rainfall: Rain/snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at many places in Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Haryana and Punjab. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm are: Himachal Pradesh: Dhundhi 7, Patsio 5, Berthin, solangnala and Sujanpurtira 3 each, Bhang, Bhuntar, Kahu, Kasol, Nadaun, Shimla and Sundernagar 2 each and Pandoh, Rampurbushahar and Sunnibhaji 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Banihal, Batote and Quazigund 10 each, Katra 7, Bhaderwah and Srinagar 5 each, Jammu 3 and Kupwara 1, Punjab: Patiala 1 and Uttaranchal: Tehri 3 and Dehradun and Mukteshwar 1 each.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperature fell appreciably in west Rajasthan, rose in west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: This was markedly above normal in Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh, appreciably above normal in Punjab, east Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 4.6°C recorded at Bikaner (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 5, 2006: Rain/snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in Rajasthan.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain/snow is likely in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal during the next 24 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of
January 5, 2006:
Generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain/thundershowers in some areas. Fog till forenoon. The minimum temperature will be around 8°C.
