Bihar, J&K, Assam debarred from football meet Chandigarh, December 19 Nine boys from Assam, six each from Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar , two each from Punjab and Mizoram and one each from Goa and Orissa were declared overage and banned from participating in the competition. As Assam , Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar have more than three overage players, these states have been asked to return home. Shaji Prabhakaran, Director, Vision Asia, said the AIFF was taking a tough stand while dealing with the age-old problem of fielding overage players in junior competitions. Under the directions of the AIFF, the CFA, which is organising the AIFF Under-14 Football Festival, had formed a medical committee. According to the AIFF guidelines, the players were subjected to the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination to ascertain their age. Players born on or after January 1, 1992 were eligible to participate. The AIFF had introduced the MRI examination to ascertain the correct age of the players. A medical committee comprising competent doctors had the right to refer any number of players to undergo the MRI test and the findings of the medical committee is final and binding on all participants. Shaji said 25 points would be deducted for each overage player from the Fair play points. If three or more players of a team had been found overage, the team was sent back and no TA, DA , train fare and any other expenses paid to it. The idea was to enforce strict discipline. Those declared overage were: Goa-Raymond; Orissa — Suraj Sunani; Punjab — Harpreet Singh and Prem Kumar. Jammu and Kashmir — Dawar Zahoor, Chandan Kumar, Faizon Majid, Rashik Nahvi, Ricky Kumar and Danesh Khanna; Assam — Utpal Barshma, Jaideep Ghosh, Mainul Hussain, Pardeep Brahma, Mohammad Hussain Ali, Devajit Phukon, Somnath Brahama, Rajesh Chetri and Rajiv Vohra; Mizoram — Samuel and Rashiamliana; and Bihar — Govind Kumar, George MP, Pinto Sardar, Subham Kumar, Biran Gurung and Makhan Thappa. Meanwhile, the AIFF has deputed Mariano Dias (Goa), Syed Sabir Pass (Tamil Nadu) and Satheevan Ballan (Kerala) as spotters for the AIFA Under-14 Festival. D.S. Bisht of Delhi and Terence Cravan of West Bengal have been made referee inspectors. The spotters will identify 30 to 40 probables for training in a camp in preparation of Indian team’s participation in the AFC Under-14 Tournament to be held in Iran in March next year. |
