Militants kill ex-serviceman
Jammu, December 17
Ultras brutally killed an ex-serviceman in a far-flung area of Udhampur district while security forces recovered some explosives and ammunition from Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir in the past 24 hours, official sources said today.

Town to be developed under NURM: Azad
Jammu, December 17
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad yesterday said that all small and medium towns in Jammu and Kashmir would be developed under the National Urban Renewal Mission that was recently launched in the country.

Militants kill ex-serviceman

Jammu, December 17
Ultras brutally killed an ex-serviceman in a far-flung area of Udhampur district while security forces recovered some explosives and ammunition from Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir in the past 24 hours, official sources said today.

The body of Naseeb Singh, an ex-serviceman, was found with his throat slit near Lalna village of Reasi town in Udhampur district yesterday, they said, adding that the deceased was also working as a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member in the area.

Naseeb Singh, who belonged to Hunder village, had gone to attend the marriage of his relative on December 11 and was missing since then.

The ultras had probably kidnapped him and after killing him, thrown his body in the forest area of Lalna, the sources said. — PTI

Town to be developed under NURM: Azad

Jammu, December 17
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad yesterday said that all small and medium towns in Jammu and Kashmir would be developed under the National Urban Renewal Mission (NURM) that was recently launched in the country.

He said that Jammu and Kashmir has been included as a special category state entitled for 90 per cent central financial assistance for the purpose.

As many as 20 small and medium towns, two each from every district, would be taken up during the current financial year.

Mr Azad was presiding over a meeting of officers of the state and the Central government here for implementation of the scheme.
