Eerie silence prevailed in both Houses of Parliament today as the nation saw the soul-stirring visuals of 11 MPs belonging to four different political parties, including Suresh Chandel, BJP MP from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, accepting cash for raising questions in the House.

Although already expelled by their respective parties, the 11 MPs involved in the “cash on camera” sting operation now face expulsion from Parliament as there is a 1951 precedent when a Lok Sabha member was stripped of his membership, also for taking money for asking questions in the House.

BJP suspends MPs caught taking bribes
New Delhi, December 12
Embarrassed by on-the-camera evidence of certain party MPs accepting bribes in return for asking questions in Parliament, the BJP today suspended all MPs, who were caught on camera, from the Parliamentary party, as well as ordering a detailed party inquiry.
