Producer-director Akbar Khan has crossed the line of a 60-crore budget for his much awaited period film ‘ Taj Mahal’ which opens today at Neelam and Fun Republic, Chandigarh. It is Akbar Khan's dream project that will bring glorious passage of history to life, to humanise it, not a docu-drama but a living experience. The film will put the viewers in the lap of the peacock throne to experience the romance of Emperor Shah Jahan and his Empress, Mumtaz Mahal, the romance that eventually turned into an eternal love story - ‘Taj Mahal’.

Mashreq International ‘Taj Mahal’ has been co-produced by Irshaad Hameed Alam. Veteran music director Naushad has composed the music. A magnum opus film about a love story needs to have lyrical songs. So Naqsh Lyalpuri and Sayed Gulrej have penned the lyrics.

Wait and watch if the 60 crores spent on ‘Taj Mahal’ were worth spending. Maybe the audience will relate it to history that was made 100 years ago.
