Ludhiana, October 29 Flower arrangement and rangolis made by the students of classes XI and XII were eye-catching. Divali puja was conducted in various classes. Parents were welcomed with handmade greeting cards made by students. Director and Principal of the school visited the classes and appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers and students. All India Camel Colour contest was organised at MGM Public School in which all students from KG to Class IX participated. The students were divided into five groups. Each group was given a different topic. The Principal, Ms Harmeet Kaur, and the Director, Mr Gajjan Singh Thind, congratulated the students for their efforts. Dharohar — a function to grandparents was organised by students of Delhi Public School here on Saturday. The Pro-Vice-Chairman, Mr Sanjiv Kumar, parents and grandparents of the students attended the function. The function started with grandparent of a student watering the plant. An annual science fair in memory of Beant Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab, was held in Everest Public Senior Secondary School here on Friday. Former Transport Minister Tej Prakash Singh was the chief guest. He was accompanied by Mr Prem Mittal, Senior Deputy Mayor, Mr Varinder Sharma, District Science Supervisor, Mr Sushil Malhotra, Member Sales Tax Advisory Committee and many others. The exhibition was divided into different sections — art & craft, home science, environmental management, industry for rural development, mathematical models, energy and its conservation. The projects that were crowd pullers were bio-diesel, DNA technique to catch a thief. Both Mr Varinder Sharma and Mr Tej Pratap Singh spoke on the occasion. The students who had made outstanding models were given prizes. Ludhiana, October 29 On this occasion, college Principal Dr Balwant Singh, honoured Dr Shashi Trehan for latter’s commendable services in the field of education and inservice training for the past 29 years. Dr Trehan also threw light on different steps on the development of modules in different subjects. She narrated at length, about how much, the modules were self-instructing and how they reinforced the behaviour of a child. Dr Trehan explained the students that modules were beneficial for inculcating healthy discussion, social- development, sense of togetherness and made the students more stimulant to studies. She talked about different learning structures like signals, chains, multiple discussions, concepts and various principles, giving authenticated examples. Techno Hunt-2005
Students of the GGN Institute of Management and Technology bagged prizes in two out of three events amongst 15 teams in Techno-Hunt 2005, organised by Chandigarh Engineering College. While Charanjeet Singh of MCA 5th semester was placed on the 2nd position in the paper presentation contest. The placement cell of Guru Nanak College for Women organised an extension lecture on topic ‘tips for recruitment’ by Net Cradle (UK). The motive of the extension lecture was to make the students aware of the recruitment requirements keeping in view the present scenario. Mr Manoj Kumar Verma, Business Development Officers, along with members of the Frankfinn Institute of Airhostess Training, and Ms Savita Chadha, centre head of the institute, conducted a ‘career counselling seminar’ in DAV Public School here yesterday. They made the students aware of different courses, eligibility criteria, duration of courses, age limit, physical requirement s to enter into hospitality and aviation industry. It was an interactive session, in which the students of Classes XII & XII took part and got information about the opportunities in aviation , hospitality and travel industry. The students could opt for jobs in these industries after completing Class XII. Ms Savita acquainted the students about the salary packages in aviation industry as a cabin crew ranging from Rs 25,000 per month and reaching up to Rs 1 lakh. She also told the students that there were different career options like air hostess, guest relation officer, customer care executive, commercial staff, etc. She said students could get more information from the aviation magazine given free of cost. Talaash ’05, a talent hunt competition was organised jointly by RIMT-Institute of Management and Computer Technology and Gobindgarh Institute of Management and Technology on the campus of RIMT-IMCT. The competition was inaugurated by Ms Neena Bansal, co-chairman of RIMT-group of educational institutes. Forum notice to MD of LG Electronics
Ludhiana, October 29 The president of the forum, Mr A.S. Narula, has directed them to put appearnace before the forum on November 23, 2005. Notice has been issued taking congnisance of an execution application filed by Deepak Kohli of Bhagat Singh Nagar. Earlier the complainant — Deepak had filed an complaint against the LG company and its dealer with the claim that he had purchased an Air Conditioner (AC) but the same started giving trouble within a week. It was alleged that the AC was not giving proper cooling, consuming more electricity and creating a lot of noise. The dealer was requested to replace the AC but he refused to do so. Deciding the complaint the consumer forum had directed the dealer to repair the AC to the satisfaction of the consumer. But now the consumer alleged that the orders of forum were not implemented. |

Ludhiana, October 29 Mr A.S. Narula, president of the forum, said they would persuade the parties to settle their disputes amicably as it would save their money and time. |
