Cane growers get technical tips
Amloh, October 5 An exhibition of various cane varieties was held on the mill complex. The farmers, who have got the highest cane yield per acre, highest area under cane cultivation and who have produced quality cane, were honoured by the chief guest. The farmers condemned higher cut from permissible one quintal per trolley up to October 10 by some sugar mills. They said non-payment of their arrears to the tune of several hundred crores, lower procurement price of sugar cane in Punjab compared to Haryana were other reasons to cultivate crops other than sugarcane. |

An art exhibition was organised at Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Bharart Nagar Chowk, here on Wednesday. Ms Kamaljit Kaur, Principal, and Mr Jaspreet Mohan Singh, lecturer in commercial arts, motivated the young amateur artistes of the school to display their creative abilities. A variety of paintings on a wide range of themes were put on display. Ms Shweta Verma, wife of Deputy Commissioner, spoke volumes on the creative imagination and hard labour put in by the commercial arts students. Love Dale
Navratra celebrations started at the Love Dale Club of Love Dale School here on Tuesday. A nine-day Navratra camp has been organised to teach children famous Gujrati
dances. The children are being taught dandia and garba on famous bhajans. Experts like Master Bitu and Ladi along with a team of professionals from Gujarat will be teaching the club members, mainly children, and their mothers garba and dandia for all nine days. A function would be organised on the concluding day of the camp. Drawing and personality development courses are also included in this camp. |

Ludhiana, October 5 Geetu Sharma and Mamta Gupta of the college shared the second position in the university by securing 959 out of 1,150 marks. Aarti Sharma and Manisha shared the third position in the university by securing 950 out of 1,150 marks. Vidhushi Sharma and Ekta Nagpal shared the eighth position, by securing 931 marks. Megha Girdhar secured the ninth position in the Ludhiana district by securing 927 marks. Twentyfive students of the college secured more than 75 per cent marks. Mr Vijay Saathi, president of the Arya College Managing Committee, Dr S.M. Sharma, Principal of the college, Prof H.R. Saini, Head of the Postgraduate Department of Commerce, and faculty members of the department congratulated the students for their outstanding performance. Extension lecture Kamla Lohtia SD College organised an extension lecture on soft drinks. The lecture was delivered by Dr Sanjay Kaushik, Reader, University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He deliberated upon various aspects of individual personality and shortlisted effective ways of improving personality. Dr Harpreet Singh, associate professor, GNIMT, discussed various issues concerning prevalent corporate governance practices in depth. The lecture was followed by a question-answer round. Prof Rajesh Marwaha, Head, PG Department of Commerce, honoured the experts. The Principal, Prof Deepak Kaushal, extended a vote of thanks. MCom results Students of the Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women excelled in MCom second semester) examination conducted by Panjab University. Rakhi Aggarwal stood first in the college by scoring 81 per cent marks, Sapna Gupta and Shveta Singla stood second by scoring 80 per cent marks and Amarjeet Kaur stood third by scoring 79 per cent marks. Ludhiana, October 5 Dr Walia sensitised the students about the importance of health, success and achievement with the help of examples, anecdotes and witticism. He emphasised on the importance of health as an ingredient on the road to success as only healthy minds live in healthy bodies. He advised the students to develop a holistic vision about life. He exhorted the students to set their personal goals, define their role and work towards success. Dr Walia asked the participants to pledge that they would devote their time and energy on social causes while studying as these initiatives will prepare them for professional success.
