Programme on radio oncology tomorrow
Chandigarh, April 14 Pror S.C. Sharma, head of the department, stated that the new techniques could deliver a high dose of radiation as compared to conventional techniques of radiation with lowest dose to the surrounding normal tissues. More than 100 delegates will attend the CME and the faculty from Tata Memorial Cancer Centre and Hospital, Mumbai, and AIIMS, New Delhi, will deliver lectures. |
Kabaddi matches mark sports mela’s conclusion
Chandigarh, April 14 Kabaddi matches were held today under various categories in which six academies from Ropar, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana took part. The Nirmal Nimma Kabaddi Club, Manupur, in Fatehgarh Sahib district, won the kabaddi tournament and Rs 25,000 as prize money. Runner-up Baidwan Kabaddi Academy, Mauli Baidwan (Ropar) walked away with Rs 20,000. In the under-60 kg category, the kabaddi team of Dusarana (Ropar) was declared the winner while Kakrala Bhaika (Patiala) team was the runner-up and pocketed Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000, respectively. In the under 65 kg category it was again the Dusarana kabaddi team which won the prize money of Rs 9,000 while the runner-up team from Bajheri village pocketed Rs 6,000 cash prize. For the recreation of the spectators various innovative sports were also played like Bahadur Khan of Malerkotla pulling a motor cycle with rope tied to his ears. Another amazing act was six-year-old girl Gurpreet Kaur pulling a motor cycle with a rope tied to her neck. Later, the “Dhadi” jatha of Des Raj Lachkani and Surjeet Khan regaled the spectators with traditional songs. Mr J.P. Sharma, vice-president, World Kabaddi Federation, distributed the prizes. |

Mehar, Mandeep emerge u-16 tennis champs
Chandigarh, April 14 Mehar Anand controlled the ball during most of the play and forced her opponent to commit errors as she vanquished the never-say-die spirit of Tanya Chauhan in the three well-fought sets by 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in 80 minutes. Tanya, however, got the consolation victory as she partnered with Aashna to defeat Ramneek and Avneet 6-3, 6-2 in the girls under-16 doubles final. Mandeep Randhawa, using his great height to perfection, executed his ground strokes with near precision and served with power to deny his opponent and also his doubles partner Harjee Singh the boys under-16 title. The final saw Mandeep racing to an easy 6-2, 6-3 victory in 50 minutes. |
HUDA to auction commercial
sites on April 21
Panchkula, April 14 The commercial sites to be auctioned include booth without basement , booth with basement, built up kiosks without basement, shop-cum-office sites with built up basement, double-storey shop with basement and spare parts shop without basement.
A spokesman for HUDA said these sites were located in Sectors 2, 3, 6, 8, 11 shopping centre, 12-A, 12, 14 (main shopping centre) 15, 16, 17, 20, 25, Sectors 4 and 5 of Mansa Devi Complex, and Industrial Area Phase-II. He said the allotment of shops of commodity centre in Sector 16 would be on 99-year lease hold basis. |
