Stress is on Jain philosophy

Schools are the footsteps that lead a nation to the pinnacle of glory. The type of education given in school determines not only the foundation of the nation but also the skills, character and outlook of the future generation.

Atam Public Senior Secondary School, named after Jain guru Atam Ram ji, has laid stress on the abovesaid principle and the fundamental philosophy of Jainism. Efforts are made to instill ethical values and discipline among students.

The school is affiliated to Punjab School Education Board, Mohali. The motto of the school is “vidya vinyam shobte”, meaning that education teaches humility and educated persons gain glory in life.

All-round development must for child

The school is unique in the sense that it is a blend of modern eduaitonal values and those of ancient Indian gurukul system. Teachers apply innovative ideas to develop students’ capabilities for learning. Stress is also laid on the celebration of festivals and historical days, annual function and sports. At the nursery level we make our own programme and kits. Music, dance, art, craft and sports are an important part of our curriculum from the nursery level. We have a comprehensive evaluation system, where we have no terminal and annual examination till class II. To create an atmosphere of value-oriented environment in the school we execute certain programs. Every month students are supposed to prepare charts, models, speeches and presentation on certain topics.

We conduct various inter-house and inter-section competitions at the school level like fancy dress, poetry recitation, joke-telling, public speaking, extempore speeches, maths and general knowledge quiz, folk songs and many more competitions.

There are two full-fledged computer labs and there is a trained faculty to deal with all sorts of queries.
