Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at isolated places in Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cms are: Jammu and Kashmir: Batore, Banihal, and Quazigund 2 each and Uttaranchal: Tehri 1.

Departures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Haryana, Punjab, east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were markedly above normal in Uttaranchal, appreciably above normal in Himachal Pradesh and east Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and west Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 3.5°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 4: Rain/snow is likely to occur at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 4: Fog in the night/morning. Partly cloudy sky with possibillity of thundry development in some areas. Minimum temperature will be around 08°C.
