The 63 Baba Deva Dass memorial wrestling championship concluded at Lehra village yesterday. It was presided over by Mr Jagdish Singh Garcha, MLA of Kilaraipur constituency, and Mr Mann Singh Garcha gave away the prizes.

According to Mr Major Singh, convener of the championship, more that 60 wrestlers from Punjab and surrounding states of Himachal and Haryana participated in the championship.

Gurdev Singh Malikpur and Satish Kumar of Alamgir Akhara shared the award money worth Rs 21,000, as the final combat remained undecided despite an extra time given on demand of the spectators.

Hardeep Khatra, Jaswant Singh of Patiala, Chand Baba of Dhilwan, Billu Baba of Dhilwan, Ajay of Alamgir and Ashok Suri defeated Sonu of Malerkotla, Kamal of Ludhiana, Pappi Leealn, Avtar Singh of Anandpur, Chidambram and Satinder Dhilwan, respectively. Earlier Golu of Hallan and Golu of Rauni had shared prize of Rs 5100 in a drawn wrestling match.

Mr Sham Sunder councillor, Mr Jagjit Singh Mukandpuri Secretary, PPCC, Mr Dharam Singh Khera, president legal cell congress committee, Ludhiana, Mr Kewal Singh sarpanch Butahri village, Mr Daljit Singh Barundi and Mr Naresh Bhuta president arthia association Ahmedgarh were also present.
