ISTE chapter of GNIMT adjudged best

Ludhiana, December 7
The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) chapter of Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Model Town, has been adjudged best among all technical/engineering and management colleges/institutes/deemed universities, in the northern region comprising Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir for 2003-04. The award has been announced on the basis of performance in various professional activities conducted during the session.

The award will be conferred during the annual convention on December 18.

Dr A.S. Bansal, Director GNIMT expressed satisfaction and congratulated the faculty and students for the achievements.

Students contribute to noble cause

Students of BCM School have joined hands to help those who cannot afford to buy woollens. According to a press note during the academic session a board was set up in the school and member students of board decided to help the underprivileged. The students brought sweater, jackets and blankets.

Rashtriya Gaurav Award

Dr Inderjeet Gill Vashisht former Principal of Government Colleges for Women, Ludhiana, and Manager, Kundan Vidya Mandir, recently won Rashtriya Gaurav Award. It was conferred by the India International Friendship Society in Delhi. She has also awarded a gold medal as millennium achiever by the International Institute of Success Awareness.

Art carnival

GN Institute of Design and Technology organised in art carnival here on Tuesday.

The carnival is being organised to encourage students to showcase their skills. Competitions were organised in collage making, rangoli, fashion sketching, flower arrangement, embroidery and fabric painting.

Three best entries an each competition were awarded trophies and certificates.

Mother’s Touch holds sports meet

Mother’s Touch Kindergarten held its annual sports meet here today.

Mr M.N.A. Chaudhary, Commissioner, Income Tax, presided over the meet. Children took out a march past and took oath. They participated in races, hurdles etc.

Fund-raising by school on Flag Day

Ludhiana, December 7
Spring Dale Senior Secondary Public School, observed the Communal Harmony Campaign, Fund raising Week and Flag Day to provide assistance to children who had lost their bread winners parents in the communal violence and the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives during wars to ensure their (childrens’) proper rehabilitation and education. Students and all staff members made their efforts to raise the funds by voluntary contribution.

Today, small flags were pinned on students uniforms to express solidarity with the armed forces. Many competitions will be organised and prizes were given to the winners.

4 file nominations for lawyers’ body poll

Ludhiana, December 7
Process of filing the nomination papers for the annual elections of the District Bar Association started today. Four contestants filed nomination papers for different posts with the Returning Officer, Mr S.K.Pathak.

Mr Rajesh Mourya, who presently is the executive committee member of the DBA, filed the nomination papers staking claim for the post of Joint Secretary. Rana Harjasdeep Singh, a candidate of the Organisation of Young Lawyers filed nomination papers for the post of Secretary. The duo filed the nomination papers accompanied with their supporters.

For the six posts of executive members two lawyers Mr N.K.Bansal and Mr Amardeep Singh filed nomination papers. The last date for filing nomination papers is December 10.

The candidates who did not file nomination papers today, remained busy in campaigning with their friends.
