PGI Medical Supdt in row over grade
Chandigarh, November 25 Sources say that the audit has raised objections that Dr Gupta, who was promoted from Additional Professor to the post of Professor on January 24, 2003, had been drawing the salary in the Professor's grade since 1995, when he was actually an Additional Professor. The audit objections state that the governing body of the PGI has wrongly granted the scale of Rs. 5900-200-7300 to Dr Gupta, who was selected as the MS in the designation of the Additional Professor by the selection committee on September 6, 1995. But Dr Gupta is alleged to have been drawing the salary in the grade of Professor from 1995 to 2003. This anomaly has resulted in the ``irregular payment'' to the tune to Rs 2,67,123 made to Dr Gupta, to which the audit team has raised objections to. The team has recently raised objections and asked the financial adviser of the institute to look into the matter. Sources further add that the matter is yet to be addressed and resolved. According of the PGI rules, the scale for the post of Additional Professor was Rs 5100-200-6300 and that of the professor Rs 5900-200-7300. These were later revised to Rs 16400-450-20900 for Additional Professor and Rs 18400-500-22400 for Professor with effect from January 1, 1996. |
