PM hits out at selective terror war

Calling upon the international community to launch a sustained and determined war against terrorism, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today made a strong pitch for India’s inclusion as a permanent member in the UN Security Council and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to peacefully resolve all outstanding issues with Pakistan.

Following complaints pertaining to largescale bungling in enrolment of “bogus voters” for the Kapurthala Assembly segment during the recent revision of electoral rolls, a team of five officers from the Election Commission held an inquiry into the matter here today.

Ban on recruitments goes, 5000 posts to be filled

Lifting the ban on fresh recruitments in government departments in Punjab, the Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, today announced that the state government would start the recruitment to raise one Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) immediately, while for the second such battalion, the recruitment would start in two weeks.

Pranab to direct Army to provide female gynaecologists
New Delhi, September 23
Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said today he would direct the Army to make available female gynaecologists for medical examination of women candidates in the wake of an aspirant’s complaint that she was rejected because she refused to undergo tests by a male gynaecologist.

It looks like a morbid reality TV show. Bir Kariya Kisri Handsdah, a 22-year old talented postgraduate student at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, meticulously planned his own suicide and even recorded it on a web camera the hazy images of which were recorded on his laptop.
